Mission statement

The purpose of TEC is to contribute and enrich the SGSB student's education by offering an array of professional and social events, specifically targeted at leveraging knowledge and understanding for European business and culture.

Our Services to members

1) Network: One of the prime advantages of being enrolled in a graduate program is that you can network with friends and future business partners. It can be of tremendous value having a network of friends back from the good old days at IIT. It is also therefore, that membership is not limited to Europeans, but rather encompassing SGSB students of all nationalities that have interests in European culture and business. One of our goals is starting a network of professionals with interests in Europe, and maintaining and expanding it over the coming years to build a solid reputation.

2) Socialize: The European Club will regularly organize events with both professional and social intent, such as the following: Speeches from consuls of European countries and CEO's of major European firms on various subjects, meetings to discuss the European economy, or European countries in specific; opportunities in both the International and European market; currently relevant European business and political issues; hot issues at IIT; idea-sharing and development workgroups. Social events will be organized of the following sort: Sports-adventures (whitewater rafting, skiing/snowboarding, windsurfing, basketball, swim contests, etc), outings to festivals, clubs, dinners, beaches, amusement parks, and much more… . The Club’s primary objective is to network by having fun.

3) Professional help: TEC will offer professional help to its members. By means of an elaborate member-database, we will identify specialist in various areas to which we will refer other members should they seek professional help. Thus, as a member of TEC, you are entitled to request professional advice from TEC. TEC will then scan its database and refer you to a specialist on the topic of concern.

 4) Collective influence: A further advantage of the Club is our collective influence we can express over interests we have at IIT. As a member of the European Club, you will be encouraged to bring up problems or improvement suggestions that we can present jointly to the Dean or the person in charge for the matter.

5) Personalized assistance: Upon first time arrival in Chicago, new European students may request pick-up service and help from TEC. TEC will provide personalized information to make the new environment enjoyable, avoiding bad surprises.
